Manjoor Khan is a professional Dholak player and renowned Manganiyar folk musician from Western Rajasthan, whose artistic journey is deeply rooted in the centuries-old musical traditions of the Manganiyar community. With his distinctive command over the Dholak and a deep understanding of traditional Rajasthani rhythms, he has established a unique identity as a performer and cultural practitioner.
With a vision to preserve and promote Rajasthan’s rich folk music heritage, he founded the Sarwar Folk Music and Rural Development Institute. Through the institute, he has helped train and encourage more than 1,000 artists, providing younger generations with opportunities to learn and carry forward traditional music.
From traditional wedding songs and welcome songs for a newborn child to devotional, celebratory and ceremonial compositions, the musical traditions of the Manganiyar community beautifully accompany the important moments of life. Through his performances, Manjoor Khan continues to present these vibrant traditions to audiences across India and around the world.
Over the years, Manjoor Khan and his group have collaborated with various cultural organisations and institutions, presenting the extraordinary traditional music of Western Rajasthan on international platforms. Their performances have reached audiences in more than 60 countries, helping introduce the rich heritage of Manganiyar music to the world.
