Manjoor Khan Manganiyar is an award-winning Rajasthani folk musician and accomplished Dholak and khadtaal player from Western Rajasthan. Rooted in the centuries-old musical traditions of the Manganiyar community, his performances reflect the distinctive rhythms, soulful melodies and living cultural heritage of the Thar Desert.
In recognition of his contribution to traditional music, he received the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2024 from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. This honour marks an important milestone in his artistic journey and celebrates his dedication to Rajasthan’s folk music traditions.
Alongside his artistic work, Manjoor Khan is the Director of Sarwar Folk Music and Rural Development Institute. Through the institute, he works to preserve and promote traditional music, encourage young learners and help carry the Manganiyar musical legacy forward to future generations.
His repertoire includes traditional wedding and welcome songs, devotional compositions, celebratory music and other ceremonial traditions passed down through generations. Through performances across India and internationally, Manjoor Khan continues to share the rich cultural identity of Western Rajasthan with diverse audiences.
His journey brings together musical excellence, cultural preservation and a commitment to keeping Rajasthan’s folk heritage alive.
